What New Product Are You Looking For?

Ever since we began our journey with Grandma Lucy’s, all of our products have been developed not only from our love of pets, but also our customer's love for their pets. Of course it started with Lucy herself but over the years, we have carefully listened to what our customers are looking for in a pet treat or food…

1999 - Our original meatball treats such as the Cheeseburgers or Chicken Parmesan, like all of our products, are made with only human-grade ingredients because we were looking for a safe alternative for Lucy. We did not trust the inferior ingredients in the treats on the market.

2001 – Coming out with a cat treats was probably one of our most difficult trials yet. With cats being as picky as they are, we had to enlist quite a few taste testers. People wanted a simple and healthy treat and cats, well, cats wanted meat and that’s about it. To satisfy everyone, we came out with our first two cat treats, Freeze-Dried Tuna Cat Treats and Roasted Chicken Cat Treats. Made with only high-quality, human-grade meat and nothing else, these treats have remained our most popular cat treats to this day.

2004 - All of our single ingredient dog treats, the Just Treats, we designed for pets with allergies. These poor dogs deserved a great treat too and by keeping the treats simple, dogs are able to enjoy a healthy treat and their people feel safe when giving it to them.

2006 – Pets were requesting a tasty training treat and their people were looking for a small treat so as not to “over-do” it as many of us do – Our dogs are just so cute! For this request, we shrunk our already popular meatballs and came out with our TinyTidbit Treats. Not only great for training but small dogs too (but trust us, we have seen even the tiniest of dogs devour one of our larger treats in seconds flat)!

Early 2007 – With the ever important trend in organic foods, people wanted to be able to share this same quality with the pets. Requests came in for us to change our oven-baked treats to 100% USDA Organic and we did just that. Out of this came one of our most popular treat lines ever, the Organic Pumpkin, Organic Blueberry, Organic Ginger, Organic Honey and Organic Cinnamon dog treats. The only thing we are not quite sure of is, who actually eats more of these treats – the dogs or their people?!

2007 – During the past pet food recalls, we had many panicked customers calling us to ask if they could feed our treats as their pet's sole diet. They had trusted our product over the years and knew they are made with only the highest-quality, human-grade ingredients all sourced in the United States. We quickly began to develop a balanced diet for both dogs and cats. Our goal was to create a food that is SIMPLE to use, made with only HIGH-QUALITY INGREDIENTS, one with an appetizing CONSISTENCY and that was REASONABLY PRICED. We worked with veterinarians and nutritionists to use the same high-quality ingredients already in our treats to produce a simple and balanced diet for all life stages and our Freeze-Dried ARTISAN Pet Food (formerly Truth) was born.

2009 – Back to our poor allergy suffering pets, we received countless letters telling us how much people loved everything about our food but their poor dog had allergies to common protein sources such as chicken. This lead to the introduction of our new ARTISAN Venison Food and ARTISAN Bison Food.

We cannot express to you how warming it makes us feel to receive letters from our supporters telling us how well their dog is doing on our food, how our treats are the only treats their pet can eat due to an illness or how much energy their pet has now since switching to our food. It makes everything we do worthwhile.

It is that time again when we are starting to work on our new products for the year. As always, we are looking to you to hear what you want. We want to make sure you have everything you need to keep your pet happy and healthy for years to come. Please drop us a
note and let us know what you are looking for in a pet food or treat. You never know, you may see your pet’s favorite on our next menu! Everyone at Grandma Lucy’s thank you for your support over the years and looks forward to many more to come.

PAWsitive Notes

"Melissa Anne, "Missy," is a twelve year old toy parti-poodle, who has enjoyed eating what she wants when she wants, until recently when she was diagnosed with canine diabetes.
The vet recommended a few brands of food, all of which Missy had tried, and the only one she really seemed to like has the texture and smell of Spam. Almost instantly she lost a third of her body weight. Feeling sorry for her restricted diet, I started looking for a low GI treat that I could give her throughout the day.
At the local pet store, Agway, I picked up a package of your Sweet Potato Chips, which were an INSTANT hit! Since she has started eating them, she has more energy, plays again (for the first time in over six months), and even hunts for the resident Cat!
Thanks for a great product.
